Entrepreneur and Founder
Since it has enriched my life in so many ways, I aspire to give back to the Brotherhood of Surfing, by building community through the reuniting of Art and Life. The core message of all my work is “No Separation” between Art and Life, Man and Nature, and each other. My goal is to see, our “BOARD SOS initiative” spread to support all those in our Board Riding community who may be temporarily most in need.
Although I have spent many more years surfing than snowboarding most of my injuries have come from the latter!

1964 Born in Australia
1976 Began Surfing
1985 The Motor Home Surfing Adventure across Australia begins.
1994 Surfer, Snowboarder, Artist & Model Maker Rob Mathews
Started “Mini Stix” business in Australia
Collaborated with Nat Young (4 times World Surfing Champion) to build a collection of his surfboards.
Closed due to Sickness
2000 Moved to Japan & Married
2003 Founded Bilingual Kids International Preschool (BILINGUAL KIDS CO., LTD.)in Tokyo
Nurtured Children’s Creativity. Act on your Ideas!
2020 Relaunched the Miniature Surfboard product as “Modelstix” under the RATTY brand.
2021 Begin “Board SOS” initiative.
2022 Started to draw Digital Surf Arts
ABOUT
Ratty sources second hand surfboards and recycles them into fully authentic surfing memorabilia items and art. Some of these items are sold as mini individual signature or trophy surfboards, while others become part of a framed series or kit.
Ratty’S Mission
Ratty’s mission is to provide an ecological range of soulful products to those people who are passionate about surfing and snowboarding. The work therefore carries with it, not just a physical quality, but also the deeper dimensions of both feeling, thought and sustainability that allow us as board riders to continue to live our lives like a work of art. After all, surfing and snowboarding are both, without a doubt, artistic pursuits in their own right…

If you are interested, first of all, be sure to send in the photo of the board (We would like to make sure that it is a board that we can reuse for our Model Stix product).
